STYLE MUSE: VICTORIA BECKHAM

Victoria Beckham’s transformation isn’t about abandoning Posh, it’s about refining her.

Victoria Beckham’s Spice Girl alter ego, Posh, was synonymous with little black dresses. Victoria Beckham’s WAG alter ego, VB, was synonymous with Birkins. Victoria Beckham, a respected fashion designer, is synonymous with chic.

The Spice Girls had one clear standout fashion star: Posh Spice. Where Scary Spice lived in animal prints, Baby Spice boasted a big collection of platform boots, Ginger Spice was forever linked to her Union Jack Dress and Sporty Spice had her tracksuits, Posh Spice had the little black dress. Preferably a Gucci little black dress.

She’s come a long way since then and has established herself as a serious (and very good) fashion designer. These days, we're most likely to see Victoria in her own sharp tailoring, a slinky white dress and of course, designer arm candy in tow.

The Designers

Victoria has had a penchant for Gucci since her Spice Girls days, and developed a taste for Hermès in 2004 when she bought her first ever Birkin bag. It was a tan leather, if you were wondering. She's been collecting ever since, and just five years later, in 2009, The Guardian estimated that she had around 100 Birkins and it's likely that number has risen since. But who's counting?

Not us. You do you, Victoria. Her Birkins have appeared at pivotal moments throughout her own career, as well as her husband's football career. One of her most iconic Birkin moments is when she watched the 2006 World Cup with a white Birkin in tow.

The Vibe

Every version of Victoria, from the black dress-clad Spice Girl to the British expat in LA with a suitcase full of Birkins, has been impossibly chic. Chic is the world! You’ll be hard-pressed to find a paparazzi moment from Victoria that hasn’t gone viral on Pinterest and inspired fashion obsessives worldwide.

One of our favourite moments was when she carried a Stephen Sprouse x Louis Vuitton Keepall. We just happen to have the same one.

The Edit

Victoria Beckham’s post-Posh style is the ultimate evolution. Less pop princess, more power player. Once the girl in the little Gucci dress, she’s now the woman in the sharply tailored suit, sunglasses firmly in place, Hermès in hand.

Her tailoring is everything. Think: fluid trousers, pencil skirts with precision cuts, blazers that mean business. She’s created a uniform that’s unmistakably hers - elegant, intelligent, and a little intimidating (in the best way). Every silhouette says: “I know what I’m doing.”

Then, the eyewear. Those oversized frames have become her armour, a finishing touch that makes even an airport look editorial. Where most use sunglasses to hide, Victoria uses them to own the moment. It’s the difference between being photographed and being remembered. And of course, the bags. The woman collects Hermès like others collect memories. From her early Birkin obsession to her own sculptural designs, she treats handbags as punctuation, never decoration.

They’re deliberate, sleek, and always just out of reach. Her palette? Neutrals, of course, black, camel, navy, white, the visual language of women who don’t need to prove anything. Occasionally, she’ll throw in oxblood or chartreuse, just to remind us she still knows how to surprise. Victoria Beckham’s transformation isn’t about abandoning Posh, it’s about refining her. The glamour’s still there, but the gloss has been replaced by substance. She’s become the woman every ‘90s girl secretly wanted to grow into: perfectly polished, endlessly disciplined, and just a little bit mysterious.
