In 1937, Robert Dumas observed boats as he walked along the Normandy coast. The anchor chains that secured them caught his attention and inspired the design of the iconic Chaine d'ancre motif. This motif exemplifies the "intelligence of the eye" and represents the harmonious balance between practicality and beauty, which is a hallmark of the Hermès philosophy.

A year later, the Maison ventured into new territory by creating the first silver Chaine d'ancre bracelet. Since that time, this motif has served as an endless source of inspiration, leading to a variety of interpretations that utilize different materials and shapes while still preserving its original essence.
