It’s been over 100 years since Guccio Gucci established his eponymous label in Florence, Italy. Forever a love letter to the exquisite beauty of Tuscany and the appeal of Italian style, the house remains an icon of fashion. Gucci himself hailed from humble beginnings, working at London’s Savoy Hotel as a bellboy where he found himself in awe of the fanciful luggage carried by aristocratic guests. Inspired by horse riding and other activities typically reserved for the elite, Gucci set up his store specialising in leather goods. 

Soon came along a cohort of house icons, including the distinct GG Monogram, red and green Web stripe and, of course, the fan-favourite Horsebit buckle loafers. Together with the iconic Jackie and Sylvie bags, these laid the foundations for Gucci’s present-day dominance. On the resale market, house favourites include emblematic vintage designer bags as well as newer pre-owned Gucci bags.
