FARFETCH DEBUTS OUR COLLECTION OF COVETED CHANEL
As we mark the celebration of our 10 year anniversary we are excited to announce our partnership with Farfetch as they debut our drool-worthy rarities from our recently acquired vintage Chanel collection.
Obtained from fabulously fashionable English socialite Catherine McNulty who was often included in company such as Diana, Princess of Wales, the private collection focuses on pieces dating back to the 1980s and were worn by runway legends such as Inès de la Fressange, Yasmin Le Bon and Claudia Schiffer.
“NEEDLESS TO SAY, CATHERINE’S WARDROBE WAS AN ALADDIN’S CAVE OF CHANEL.”
Claudia Ricco, our CEO and founder reflects. “It was by seeing this collection for the first time, and its pieces with incredible stories, that we realized the treasures that it contained. ”
Catherine McNulty described as a “petite unique character with an impeccable sense of style and an eye for the unusual” first contacted Rewind nine years ago when she was looking for particular pieces to add to her flourishing collection.
“I remember walking into her closet in Cannes [where McNulty retired after living in London] and being blown away!” recalls Ricco. Not only did she only wear Chanel, but McNulty took exceptional care of her gems and stored them to preserve their mint condition ensuring each piece remained as remarkable as the stories they held.
Heartbroken after her death, McNulty’s husband called and asked Ricco to meet him for lunch at the Ritz Carlton in Cannes at her earliest convenience because he could no longer bear the visual reminders of his late love.
48 pieces in total, the collection marks a pivotal moment in Chanel’s history as Karl Lagerfeld ushered in a new era in fashion with his conceptual runway creations.
Below are a few of our favourites. Which will you add to your growing collection?
“My favourite pieces are the Scuba jacket embroidered with sequins and the green tweed bag. The bag is really extremely rare. They were both part of a batch of assorted items that had joined the permanent collections of two fashion museums.”
“The Scuba jacket was on Karl Lagerferld’s list of 100 most memorable outfits. It was also worn by Claudia Schiffer during the Chanel fashion show in 1989."
“THESE JEWELS BELONGED TO ONE OF OUR MOST ADORABLE AND FASHION-CONSCIOUS CUSTOMERS THAT WE HAVE EVER HAD. SHE LED A LIFE OF INCREDIBLE GLAMOUR AND HAD IMPECCABLE TASTE. WHEN SHE LEFT US, HER COLLECTION WAS GIVEN TO US."
